Beaches
Tunnels beach – just at the end of the road, a beach complete with Victorian bathing pool carved out of the rocks, rock pools, seaview tikki bar, sea kayaking, café & childrens play area www.tunnelsbeach.co.uk
Woolcombe Beach – 10 min drive, 3 miles of golden sand & highly regarded surf (check out the surf on www.eyeball-surfcheck.co.uk)
Puttsborough – slightly quieter than Woolacombe, good beach café, rock pools
Croyde – golden sand, surf & a quaint village
Also, if you are brave White Pebble beach is the nearest beach – located just at the back of the house. The descent down to this is slightly perilous (steep steps), but once you’re there you’ll probably have it to yourself.
Golf
Saunton Sands Golf Club is widely regarded as one of the top links courses in the country. The magnificent course follows the dramatic UNESCO protected Burrows site along the shoreline. www.sauntongolf.co.uk

If you don't want to cook, we have a fantastic lady who can come in & prepare & serve wonderful meals. Or she can just pre-prepare food for you to reheat. Ann's delicacies include freshly caught local lobster, homemade beef wellington, delicious cakes & roulades. She is happy to cook whatever you request (within reason!). For those who wish to cook themselves, this area has the most magnificent locally produced produce, and some great local shops. To make your holiday even better we’d recommend ordering food in advance from some of these local shops, all deliver to your door.

Barricane Beach Cafe - small beach cafe on Barricane Beach which serves Sri Lankan curries in the evening. Take a picnic rug & a bottle of wine (its unlicensed) & watch the sunset whilst enjoying a plate of homemade curry. No tel no, no bookings. Turn up early (c.6pm) to put your order in. Mortehoe Shellfish - Mortehoe Shellfish supply many of the local restaurant with their fresh lobsters & crabs, and have been doing so for years. At their house in Mortehoe (Ilfracombe side of Woolacombe), they've converted their front room & garden into a fish restaurant. Its quirky, but you won't find fresher shellfish anywhwere.
